SANOG III – WORKSHOP PROGRAM 1. Introduction SANOG is a forum that facilitates knowledge sharing among Internet builders in the South Asian region, with peers and leaders from the Internet community worldwide. SANOG operates on a non-profit basis for the benefit of Internet development in South Asia. A basic feature of SANOG, is to offer attendees the opportunity of attending hands on workshops in major technology areas pertinent to the ISP industry. 2. Workshop Participants Participants in the Workshop portion of SANOG ideally would be individuals who want to learn about the topics on offer and, furthermore, be willing in future years to come back to SANOG and assist with the workshop program so that other people can benefit from their skills. Applicants should also be willing to take their newly acquired skills back to home and help train their colleagues in their local ISP industry. Candidates for the workshops should be: - Network builders (designers, engineers and support staff) - Internet educators (teachers and lecturers at secondary and tertiary levels) Ideally candidates will have some operational experience within the ISP or network community. 3. Topics On Offer DNS Workshop: System fundamentals, Basic DNS (Server, Client, Dynamic Update, Upgrading, Adding Zones, Using Slaves), Advanced DNS (IPv6, DNSSEC, AD integration). Candidate should have basic knowledge about Unix operations. BGP Multihoming Workshop: Introduction to BGP, Introduction to BGP policy, BGP Multihoming basics, BGP Route Reflectors, More advanced multihoming practices, Case Study. Participants should have basic understanding of operating routers. 4.
